Father's Day comes around each year, A day for laughter, love, and cheer. Cards are signed, and stories told, While I stand outside the fold. The black sheep in a family line, Never quite theirs, never quite mine. Watching from a distance far, Like a forgotten, fading star. They gather close, they share their smiles, While I count the lonely miles. Not from roads that I have crossed, But from connections somehow lost. I never asked to wear this shade, Or be the one from whom they strayed. Yet here I am, on Father's Day, With words unsaid that drift away. Still, deep inside, a small light stays, Beyond the hurt of bygone days. Being different does not mean My heart is less, or less, has seen. So if today I'm left apart, I'll build my peace within my heart. A black sheep, yes—but standing tall, It's still worthy of a place at all.
