Dear... Mister... Sir and ma'am, How could you ever Remove those slaves Who always well behaved? Well, said the white man, Said the enslaver man, Who carries hundreds of chains, Of all the brown and black men. He whips one man, Who was sleeping—even when. One man cries, Another dies. A woman sleeps; In sleep she sees Her dead infant. She does nothing— But only weep. They are sad, What's happening Is definitely bad. But what power do they have? Licking every last bit of water From the shoes of enslavers. Is at that all they are left? But they are rising, They are rising. In the silent nights, They fight all the fights— To tackle hunger, To fight their death. But they fail in the tug of war, And fall into the abyss' core. In the realms of sadness, In the realms of sorrow, A pinch of some joy Was all they could borrow. But What they Got was More debts, More traps. Yet, In all these traps, They lifted their infants— In hope That, at least, Some would be free From ropes. And those children grew; Over time, they brewed The anger and sorrow That they had not borrowed. They cultivated Guns in the farms— Fighting for their lands, Fighting for their dads, Whom they, as children, Saw lying on the ground, dead. They fought, they fought With whatever they got. Praying to their god, They asked for guns, Not mercy from gods. Such were they great, Such was their valor. They smashed and smashed, The enslavers who had crashed Their lives, their joy, Leaving behind a fatherless boy. They threw the enslavers Through the jails where They had put their slaves— Who always well behaved. They bumped into their ships pretended that they don't weep But they do, tasted their medicine Now they live Far away from us, And can't make Any more fuss. But what they left Is untreated, bereft. Something remains In this beautiful land, A stark reminder, Of an exiled hand. Those are the gratitude, The confidence Which we lack. We are free, even when... Can we fix that? Can we be us? With togetherness, Giving time to all, Without any rush? Forgetting the whites' Supermacy and importance, And create our world With joy and elegance.
