Hunt me down, cast me out. Sink your teeth till it cracks bone. Give ’em that worthwhile shock to talk about— the comedic television show, just a punchline that pushes the dagger into my side. Fuck this lifeline. Drift to space, ’cause I met an angel with a gypsy soul, spreading her wings, giving way to the temptation of warm embrace. She said I was okay— far from the temptations of ill fate. My whole life I tried, but I was always late. Late for the race with a starving heart keeping that white rabbit’s pace. Now in her shelter I disappeared, the perfect opiate with a face that casts away the fear I made so long my master, whispering in my ear. No more romancing tramps or singing to the junkie graffiti epitaphs. Desolation’s great grand halls— I hear no more the call. She spoke so clear, with a voice that tuned its waves to my thoughts, dreams carried throughout the stars in space. She built me a bridge between heaven and hell. Told me love was my only armor, and to prove it I shouted at Lucifer while ringing a church bell. So watch me peacefully give way to time. I can’t be bargained to wake when a drifter’s final home has a flashing vacant sign. I played fate so long it took an angel to share her great halo so I could be as sweet as dew on the vine. If you get out too far— so far in infinite blackness— see to it an angel finds you too. Oh, the wonderful world is yet to meet your truly sweet blue.
