You said you'd come, I sat and waited, Eyes on the door — but time just faded. Each word you gave, I held so tight, Hoping, wishing, you’d make it right. You painted dreams with golden thread, But left them tangled in my head. A trip, a hug, a day just “ours,” All vanished like the fallen stars. You smiled and swore, “Next time, I swear,” But “next time” vanished into air. How many hopes can one heart bend, Before it learns not to depend? I still love you — that won’t fade, But trust once bright now hides in shade. Your promises, though soft and sweet, Are echoes I no longer greet.
