MAYA Locked in a box With sickness beside her Bound by the demons She ran from Blinded and bruised Every resource abused Til existence was all She’d become Locked in a box For eleven long years No hope And nowhere to go She ran out from the devils Swept out of the darkness In a moment She just seemed to know Life’s path led her here To the woman beside her- So mystical, soft and serene As she sat so still Overcome by a chill Reconnecting with what This could mean She remembers this moment So pure and so true When she learned That her wings could fly Oh, the night sat awaiting While the wind hummed It’s tune, “You can still catch the moon if you try!” By Sandy Sinn
