So this is how it feels— to bloom in joy, the one I’ve long awaited, once lost, and now returned again. Though the dusk we watched that day squinted under clouds, our smiles kept singing, even as the sky wept and the grey blanket refused to lift. The birds that came and went seemed to brighten our faces, for their careless flight kept our laughter from fading. You stood still— your gaze fixed on me, a single laugh escaped, and my heart gave in completely. I lost the battle, to you— who never even raised a weapon.
