O! Echo, where art thou? Thou echo'st every sound, how? Thou repeated me in the vacuous hall, Not just words, even my foot fall. From atop the mountain I hailed thee, Thou hast without fail heard me And while anxiously I waited, My very voice thou truly repeated. I heard my childish voice bouncing back, Alike in the manner I spake, So did I hear thee speak, My aged voice, tremulous and weak. I have heard thee oft and oft, Whether my voice be loud or soft, In climes far and near, Everywhere I heard thee clear. I have sought thee everywhere, But thee I couldn't find anywhere, Art thou of humanity scared, I have only my heart bared. Though thy voice never failed me, Yet thee I could not see, O! Echo, where art thou? To eyes mine, thy sweet image allow. Why dost thou hide thyself? Art thou a nymph, sprite or elf? Oh! Whatever thou be, Pray, show thyself to me. Raghav R 10.10.2025
