Brown eyes that glow like autumn leaves, A laugh that drums in steady beats, His hair would jump when he would run, A memory bright beneath the sun. Through heavy rain he’d always show, Headlights cutting through the flow. No storm could stop the road he’d take, He came for me, for kindness’ sake. He knew my quirks, the matcha green, Late night car rides, a secret scene. At 7/11 we’d sneak away, Just to get ice cream at the end of day. His mother’s smile was warm and true, Her gentle heart still lingers too. A home she gave without demand, A love I still can’t understand. Now every white car passing by, Pulls me to glance and wonder why. I search for traces in the street, Of someone I may never meet.
