by: Mary Anne B. Sawe One afternoon she sat to ponder, “Do I need air and water, Or do I crave his gentle eyes, More than the earth, the sea, the skies?” Suspended where the sky meets sea, She drifted on so dream-fully. The cold wind wrapped her in despair, She longed for him to warm the air. A restless heart that sought his light, That ached for him through day and night. She thirsted for his tender grace, Yearned for the comfort of his embrace. In fleeting sparks her world would glow, A fragile heart would beat so slow. When he was gone, the silence grew, Her smiles and laughter faded too. But when he came, her soul took flight, Her world was bathed in gentle light. Her heart rejoiced, her spirit soared, In him, the love she long adored. Like air, she needs his breath to live, Like water, all his warmth to give. For in her heart she knows it’s true, She needs him more than all she knew.
