He calls me baby, swears I’m his whole life, Whispers soft vows that could cut like a knife. He looks in my eyes as if I’m his world, Yet inside I’m hollow, a lost little girl. The proof’s all around me — he gives, he stays, But love feels so distant, it slips through the haze. Every “I love you” falls heavy and kind, But my heart twists the meaning and leaves it behind. I’m trapped in confusion, a cruel, endless loop, With his warmth on my skin, yet my soul feels aloof. How can his arms be my shelter, my home, And still I feel empty, abandoned, alone? Maybe it’s old wounds, scars buried deep, A hunger for love that no words ever feed. Maybe I’m broken, too fractured to trust, Even when love is given, it crumbles to dust. So I cry in his silence, but he never can hear, Because my battle’s within — it’s my heart I can’t clear. And the cruelest truth is the one most unkind: To be cradled in love while unloved in my mind… To be loved by his heart… yet unloved in mine.
