I don’t want a nation of thinkers, I want workers in line, 1492 Columbus landed, brought death, disease, and crime. I don’t want you learning kingdoms, just that Africa was bare, They hide Mali, Timbuktu, knowledge stolen, never shared. I don’t want rebellion, I want obedience in school, 1619 first slaves sold in Jamestown, chained as a rule. I don’t want you seeing heroes who fought to be free, Nat Turner 1831, rose up, died for the dream, see? I don’t want you asking why the rich stay rich, 1865 slavery “ended,” but Jim Crow flipped the switch. I don’t want Tulsa, 1921, Black Wall Street burned, Thousands left homeless, history books never learned. I don’t want you thinking cops can’t kill with ease, Fred Hampton 1969 shot in his Chicago sleep. I don’t want you learning how MLK tried to heal, 1968 Memphis sniper ended his fight for real. I don’t want you asking why leaders fall, 1953 CIA toppled Mossadegh in Iran, blood on the wall. I don’t want Chile’s Allende, 1973, death in a coup, Iraq, Afghanistan, millions dead for oil, but the books keep you blue. I don’t want Malcolm X, 1965, gunned down on stage, Truth labeled radical, history silenced the rage. I don’t want students thinking the system is flawed, John D. Rockefeller said it clear — thinkers make them afraid of God. But the truth can’t be hidden, the receipts all remain, Learn it, speak it, spit it — break every chain.
