I miss you like the sea misses the wind, That carries waves to distant lands. I miss you like the night misses the stars, That silently wait for the dawn to come. I miss you like a shadow misses the sunbeam, Like dew misses the warm touch of morning. I miss you like leaves miss the breath of the wind, That carries them across the endless field. I miss you like the sky misses the voice of rain, That gently falls upon the thirsty earth. I miss you like a river misses the horizon, Searching for shores and peaceful waves. I imagine the touch of your gentle hands, That warmed me. I imagine your gaze, your warmth and tenderness, That stopped my heart and held me in a dream. I miss you like a flower misses the spring sun, Unable to reach its warmth. I miss you like a bird misses its home, Seeking its nest and dreaming of wings. I miss you like silence misses the sounds of the world, That echo where you are not. I miss you like the day misses the laughter of your heart, That disappears in the darkness of my solitude. I imagine how your gentle gaze Penetrates through my dreams and days. How your hands embrace and hold me, And every touch heals me endlessly. I miss you like the sea misses the wind, like the night misses a star, Like a river misses its shore, like a bird misses its home. And even in this longing, there is hope: That someday you will be near again — my warmth.
