I saw the devil,he's a monster, I knew. Yet, his eyes were a pretty shade of blue. He had no such thing as red skin, Nor he wore any metal or tin. I saw the devil, he was fierce and tall. The kind of man you'd dance with on a ball. He wasn't rude or mean, But cruel, a kind I've never seen. I saw the devil, He wore a suit As he drank champagne in a flute. I'd never seen him get drunk, Even after 10 glasses, what a load of junk. I saw the devil, he had no horns or wings His voice, so strong it could withstand the wind. He had not any tail, His skin, pale and frail. I saw the devil, his teeth weren't sharp. His fingers were soft as he played the harp. He'd sit alone and quietly wreath, The weight so heavy, how does he breathe? I saw the devil, his hands were strong, "He's a monster!!" Were they wrong? His gaze was intense, not brutal He was fierce like someone in a duel. I saw the devil, he wore a cloke, Before me, a man who was shook. Gone was the devil, long forgotten, He wore a mask, an angel who had fallen. I saw the devil, what had I done? Just now I realised, I had fallen in love. I had done the forbidden, broken a rule Falling for someone, so cold and cruel. I Saw the devil, I showed him the way, Tonight, he was a monster with whom I sway. He held me tight in a warm embrace, Then turned and walked away with his usual place. I saw the devil, my heart burns, He left, and now it yearns. Was I wrong to neglect their beliefs? I saw the devil, I wish I had not, Cause now in his memory, my heart would rot. He had ice in his veins, A smile that masked a hunger for pain. I saw the devil, I fell for him, But now? I regret that I did. I guess that my people were right, That he was a monster who hid in the night.
