Once, A lonely guy met a stray dog by the street; That dog was playing, rolling The kindest he'll ever meet. This poem is not about a dog. Having adopted that dog His seclusion, turned to moments of glee No longer drained. From a single act of mercy. This poem is not about a dog. Life couldn't be happier Having a pet in your company Or at least that's what he thought. Late night strolls, Were no longer his go to, Back then, That was his day to day goal, His therapy. The dog was overjoyed Having had a new owner Someone to treat him well Someone that made him feel free, A new friend that makes things fun A new friend indeed! This poem is- Not about a dog. Yet, One day this friend would flee, Having let go of that dog, so long, free Stray, lone in the alley Just like his previous owner And the one before His world is fading once more.
