“When the Sky Let Me Feel” for the ones I’ve lost, and the part of me that left with them The sky burned soft, like the last breath of something beautiful— and I stood still as if the world had paused just for me. A strange quiet settled in my chest, not empty, but full of things I hadn’t let myself say aloud. I felt a version of me slip out on the wind, like a whisper I used to be. She didn’t slam the door— she just… left. Like sunsets do. Quiet. Final. Kind. My eyes filled, but I wasn’t sad, just awake to everything I’ve carried and everyone I’ve had to let go. I thought of them— the voices I can’t call anymore, the arms I can’t run to, the laughs that echo in dreams now. But I also felt this peace, like maybe they were with me just then, watching the same sky from wherever they are. And maybe I’ll meet that version of me again— the one who walked away with the sun— when I’m ready. But tonight, I just watched. I just felt. I just remembered. -lexi
