She wakes in warmth, his arms around, A love so rare, so deeply found. He breathes in peace, she breathes in doubt, Her mind a storm she can't talk out. He laughs and light spills through the door, She smiles, though her soul feels sore. He's sunshine in her darkest sky, She wonders how—and sometimes why. He tells her she’s his morning light, But her thoughts steal sleep late into night. Not because he’s wrong or cold— But because her mind won’t do what it’s told. She wants to dance, to match his flame, To feel joy without a quiet shame. But even in love’s safest place, She fights a war she can’t always face. She hides the weight, afraid he’ll see The cracks where her heart used to be. But if he knew, he’d never run— He’d hold her ‘til the morning sun. For love like his is not afraid Of shadowed hearts or plans delayed. And love like hers is fierce and true— Even when she’s breaking too. So every day she stays and tries, With tired heart and hopeful eyes. Because though darkness knows her name, She’s learning love can burn through shame.
