What does missing someone mean? When you move away--- For work, studies, or whatever --- You leave everyone behind. You miss them everyday, You remember them everyday, And then finally you become accustomed To not seeing them everyday. But then one fine night All that longing and yearning Hits the ceiling, And yes, you've been alone Since the past few months now, But it's at that moment That you feel lonely.. You realise you're all alone And all those pictures, All those videos And all their stuff-- All of them, are just that, stuff. You are alone, And that's your reality. And that's when the first tear falls, And then another, and another; Those pictures can't hug you And that stuff can't wipe your tears, So you cry and cry and cry Until you fall asleep. And then you wake up At 4 in the morning Eyes still heavy from all that crying, Heart still heavy too, So you give yourself 2 more hours To cry your heart out, Hoping it feels light again (it never does). Thus when the alarm rings At 6 in the morning, You are back; Back to missing them, Back to knowing You can do nothing about that, And so, Back to being accustomed To not seeing them everyday. . . You see, Missing someone isn't a one day thing, It's like our housekeeping genes That continue functioning In the background forever And when one day, They reach their breaking point, All hell breaks loose. Missing someone Is an everyday affair. And the worst thing? You can do nothing, Absolutely nothing About it. -© Meenal Khare
