The moonless sky, dark as a pit, Rumbles across the seas, And the unknown stars shine To be recognized by the passers-by. The horizon sleeps, And waits for dawn— The sun rests on the other side. The constellations collaborate With each other and dance across The Milky Way—Orion grins, While Cassiopeia blinks. Sagittarius A resides far away, Growling in the silence. But one doesn’t rest, Brighter than a cherub— The presence of Polaris, Never fades away. The north of the compass, Set by the star of travelers, Clings close to the pocket Of a boy, who watches The night sky above his head. Polaris pervades the night, And accompanies Stromboli In its blazing hours. Throughout the night, It keeps the lighthouse awake, And holds the steering wheel In its hands, taking the weariness Away from the crew’s eyes.
