When you want to reach the stars, Why do you watch the stars And wait for them to beckon you? Why do you not levitate? Why do you not run through the forests, And break through the streams, And climb the mountains, And slide down the valleys? Why do you not welcome the dawn, And chirp before the birds, And rise before the sun, And dine with the night? Why do you not catch the clouds, And carry rain, and lift up stones, And glitter more than the waters? Why do you not touch and hold The soil, and the dew, and the grass, And the golden butterfly? Why do you not bring forth a mist, And sit on it to visit the lost lands, Or make a cube to dive into the deep? Why do you not talk to the wind, And feel its hush, and ask the stars, If they ever sleep? Why do you not hug a tree, And shake hands with a human, And look back at your footprints To see how far you have come? Why do you not reach the stars, When you can?
