You took an oath, pledging never to break it, To be there for better or for worse, To fulfil your duty regardless of the circumstances, To offer your service as a gift, And to remain honest and true in all you do. Now, that sweet promise has turned into a sting, And you find yourself sobbing over the commitment you once made with glee, You feel trapped and ensnared by thorns, Unable to turn right, left or centre - Every door seems closed, except for the option of breaking the promise. In your mind reside all the fears, grief, and regrets you've contemplated throughout the night, You’ve endured sleepless nights, headaches, and nightmares, You reflect on the freedom you’ve missed over the years, Unfulfilled obligations at work, And not giving your best to those who matter most to you—All because of a promise you made. Maybe you overcommitted or faced unexpected challenges, Perhaps your expectations were unrealistic or you didn't allocate time well, Or circumstances may have changed over time. You might not have communicated openly about the challenge you encountered, You could have underestimated the repercussions of your commitments, Or you may not have fully understood your obligations before agreeing to them, Maybe you didn't prepare adequately for uncertainties. Human, you are, of course, You can't know everything, It's okay to be imperfect while striving to be better, Only God who can make a lasting promise, For He knows the end from the beginning.
