Jesus entered a cave where the dead were strewn thickly He wanted to resurrect something Something he told the skeletons about hope He multiplied miracles without measure Some marvelled, for how can one live when one's eyes have become clear again? Others gossiped because it's been better for them for ages And those who tore their faces in Gloria's fashion I'd rather not trust them But Jesus, like Jesus, threw himself on a wooden object called a cross And then hung up, maybe he doubted the whole circus A sacrifice, as it were, in vain You stretch out your eyes and whip your gaze around And emptiness in your heart That night you will fall asleep And you'll forget who and what for It's not worth tuning the vaults when you've been burning in your heart since you were a child
