I wish my mind were a fishbowl. So I can fill it however I want. With stones that glitter sparkle shine, just the right amount of sunlight in them. With water clear fresh soft, just the right amount of life in them. With fishes of every hue tint shade, just the right amount of happiness in them. I wish my mind were a fishbowl. So I can fill it to the brim. With the young one's contagious laughter. With the young one's words - so new, so pure, so full of love. With the young one's weight - as he chooses his slumbers upon my heart. With the young one's pitter patter feet - raining down on us like its always meant to be. I wish my mind were a fishbowl. So I can watch it overflow. With the way your eyes sparkle. With the way your voice etches its way to mine skin. With the way your hands find mine even beneath all this grime. With the way your touch grows within me branches of roses and jasmines. I wish my mind were a fishbowl. So I can stuff it full. With the hydrangeas blooming up my spine - born of our days together. With the lavenders swaying from mine ribcage - born each time our eyes met. With the lotus blooms taking root upon mine heart - born all the while we touched. With the foxgloves breathing down mine thighs - born from the day we wed. With the lilies I find encircling mine limbs - born the days we loved and loved. With the sunflowers flourishing from mine bones - born even of the days we were not. I wish my mind were a fishbowl. So I could spill this stagnant water filling out mine lungs. So I could clean this dirt grime and soot out mine blood. So I could sprinkle some stardust and let our hopes intertwine inside. - M.A.
