when my eyes blinked open, I saw the rain had given way to cotton candy clouds and golden sun spilled inside to decorate my floors. I walked to the rivers to see them ripple and sparkle like sapphire and felt the bright grass growing from the earth steady, patient, alive. then daylight melted to dusk, and the sky bled brilliant shades of orange, pink, purple too until suddenly, without even realizing, I was seeing in color again.
