This is new to me and I'm new to you and I use too many words in a sentence to break up the prose and call it poetry anymore. I pause right in the damn middle like I second guess myself And I think I'm so fucking clever That I can split up the words and swear like it's artful and rhyme like I've got a heart full of lullabies as if that makes sense it's arbitrary how I Split things up as if it makes sense. What if I coughed up a cliché just to fill another page? What if I told another 18 year old their writing is amazing, just because that's what I wanted to hear? What if I echoed the question, because I can use that device just as well as any amateur Why am I writing this, and who is going to see it? The same reason I write anything, I want accolades and love and a place in your head rent free. Can I stay a few months just to get back on my feet? Aren't I so damn clever? Too much for my own good. Too much to be understood. Too many o sounds to swallow, because the poem is good if it references itself right? If it asks enough questions. If it takes something small like my heart and makes it big? Is anyone still reading, or am I drunk and saying this out loud fishing for compliments, Dead Pool poet I am, using commas, and reverse syntax and going on too long to really nail down a point. I'd really like to write something great for once, but this is new to me and I'm new to you and I knew I was going to be clever when I wrote this, so what do you think?
