Lost in the fog of my restless mind, Chasing thoughts I couldn’t unwind, I wandered through a park that day, Where worries whispered, wouldn’t fade away. Then suddenly paws on the bench beside me. A flash of fur, eyes open wide, White, black, and tan his coat a blend, A stranger’s dog, but a moment’s friend. He leapt with joy, no fear, no shame, Unaware of sadness or name, Demanded touch, demanded grin, And just like that, light flooded in. The world grew still, the noise grew small, His heartbeat echoed, through it all, A wagging tail, a soul so free He reminded me how to be. No words were said, none had to start, He simply stepped into my heart, And in that sun, with time turned thin, The dog in the park brought me back again.
