Publix parking lot at six o'clock You say "Deliver this letter" Hand me words like heavy burdens Then send me across the way "Tell your father that I hate him" "Tell your mother she's insane" I carry every accusation With a frown on my face I'm the monster in the middle Painted with your war Every word you throw at each other Ends up in my core You say she's not my family You say he's not my blood But your anger doesn't hurt each other It just screws me up Car rides home turn into courtrooms Passenger seat feels like the stand You load me up with all your secrets Make me swear I'll understand Mom says "He's a stranger sweetie" Dad swears "She was always cruel" If neither one belongs to me Then who the hell do I belong to? I am not your proof of purchase Not your weapon Not your shield I am tired of tasting venom For a war I didn't field You say "monster" when you mean each other But it echoes in my skin If I'm made of both your pieces Where do you think it lands?
