Oh, absolutely! I don't know how you write, but for me, poetry is like sculpture. The idea shows up whole, whether that's an unedited draft or multiple lines that chart an emotional course, and I feel like my job is to simply shave away at it until it's ready. I rarely think of my work as something that comes from me. It's more like a relationship I build with words to something that is already there.

oh, that's so interesting!! the sculpture analogy makes so much sense for me, it honestly depends. my adhd is often bouncing around between ideas lmao, so I'll usually just pick one I like and run with it, very rarely do I get a full idea at once
